Frequently Asked Questions

What type of rentals do you offer?

At Bo Kaap House, we specialise in medium-term stays, creating a true home-away-from-home experience for students, digital nomads and young professionals who want more than just a short visit.

Our goal is to host guests for anything between 3 and 11 months, allowing you the time to properly settle into Cape Town, build friendships, and experience the city like a local. Whether you’re here for a language course, an internship, remote work or a gap-year adventure, our flexible stay options give you stability without locking you into a long-term lease.

Living with us means you’re not just renting a room — you’re joining a community. You’ll enjoy a safe, social environment, fully set up for everyday living, so you can focus on studying, exploring, working and making memories in one of the most exciting neighbourhoods in the city. 🌍✨

How do deposits and payments work?

To secure your room for a specific period, a two-month deposit is required.

  • Month 1: Allocated as your first month’s rental.

  • Month 2: Held as a security deposit and refunded on your departure day, once the room inspection has been completed and no damages or outstanding charges are noted.

Monthly rental payments must be made on or before the 1st of each month for the rental month.

All bookings are subject to a formal rental agreement, which must be signed prior to occupation.

We accept payment via wire transfer or credit card.

Where are the current tenants from?

At Bo Kaap House, our tenants come from all corners of the world. From Europe and the UK to the Americas, Asia, the Middle East and across Africa, our home is a meeting place of cultures, languages and life stories — all brought together in one of the most iconic neighbourhoods in Cape Town.

Living here means being part of an international, open-minded community where friendships are formed across borders. You’ll share kitchens, laughter, sunsets and stories with people who have travelled thousands of kilometres to study, work, explore or simply experience Cape Town’s unique energy.

Cape Town itself plays a huge role in this lifestyle. With world-class language schools, creative hubs, tech start-ups, beaches, mountains and nightlife all within easy reach, the city naturally attracts curious, ambitious and adventurous young people. Bo Kaap House becomes your base to discover it all — from sunrise hikes on Table Mountain to late-night dinners in the CBD, beach days in Clifton and cultural events throughout the City Bowl.

Here, you don’t just stay in Cape Town — you become part of its global heartbeat.
